Rope Light

LED_Rope_Light.jpg

Christmas Lights Etc. offers rope light in two forms, rope light spools and precut length kits.  The commercial spools come in maximum lengths of 150' or 200' depending on the type of light they produce. Our LED rope light spools are a maximum length of 150' and our incandescent bulbs are offered in a maximum length of 200'.  The rope light spools come with three each of power cords, power connectors, splice connections, and end caps.

We also offer rope light kits with a maximum length of 30' and they include mounting clips.  The kits come ready to plug in complete with power cord and end cap and kits may be connected together.

The standard LED rope light comes with incandescent bulbs and are the most widely used.  The LED rope light utilizes energy saving Light Emitting Diodes in place of an incandescent bulb, which uses a filament. LED rope lights use ten percent of the power compared to the common incandescent bulbs. They are cool to the touch, resistant to shock, and have a longer life.  Our 12V rope lights run off of DC power through a battery or a converter that converts AC to DC power.  They are ideal for decorating boats, RV's, and any mobile platform where ac power is not available.

Accessories

Rope lights come with a host of accessories to mount and splice rope light together.  Rope light accessories include splice connectors to connect rope light sections together. Each rope light must be terminated with an end cap to prevent shorting of the exposed wires. Silicon glue should be used to seal the end cap and splice connections to prevent moisture and liquids from entering the light rope.

We also offer controllers for the three, four and five wire rope light.  They have variable speeds and different function such as flashing, step chasing, and sound-activated chasing.  The controllers are for indoor use only.

Cutting Rope Light

Rope lights with the same power requirements from Christmas Lights Etc. may be spliced together.  It is imperative that rope light only be cut in the designated cutting areas that are identified on the rope light with cut marks.  Cutting anywhere other than the designated area will result in that particular section of rope light not lighting.  See Charts below for cutting lengths of rope light.

Rope Light - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I mount rope light?

Rope light can be mounted using a mounting track or mounting clips.  The track can be mounted using adhesive or screws.  If using clips, they may be attached using small screws.  Attach the rope light by either pushing the rope light into the track or the clips.  You should not use adhesives directly on the ropelight itself as this will prevent heat from escaping from the rope light.

What type of connectors do I need?

Most applications require a power cord, a power connector and an end cap to protect the bare end at the end of the rope light run. Other connectors that may be useful are T and Y connectors used to change the direction of the rope light.

How easy is it to work with?

Ropelight is very easy to work with.  Few tools are required and the flexibility of ropelight allows it to be installed for a variety of applications by a novice.  It connects to a plug via a power pin that is simply screwed onto the end of the rope light.

How will I know where I can cut the rope light?

On every piece of rope light, there are tiny marks or scissors logos indicating where you are allowed to cut.    NOTE: Cutting at other than on these marks will prevent that section of the rope light from operating.

Can I change colors in a run?

Absolutely - using a splice or connector, you can join the two or more different colors together.

What tool is best to cut the rope light?

 Kitchen shears work just fine.
